Antidote!

Hey, everyone! If you didn't know already, ANTIDOTE was released earlier today. You can see it in the Plaza, though some of it's sold out.

Not as much as I expected to be sold, actually. It might end up like the Antidote we had for over a year, a while back, when Stardoll kinda got fed-up.
Opinions? ♥

The Most Un-Wanted?

Hey! This post is about the rare items that were once hated, but now EVERYONE wants them.
So, I take it you know all about the rare brands and the most wanted items on Stardoll. For example, the DKNY Scuba is probably one of the most wanted items in the whole of Stardoll's history. A less rare but very valuable item that I am lucky enough to have myself are the HotBuys Uggs.

I remember two years ago when they came out, everyone said they wouldn't pay even 11sd for them, as they were too cheap-looking and basic to be a Hotbuy. But, just casually browsing through the RIO bazaar, I saw someone selling them for five hundred stardollars. That's almost a 50x increase from the original price.

See?
Now, because hardly anyone bought them, they're really rare and valuable, so look how much people are actually prepared to pay for them. Luckily for me, I loved them from the start and bought them literally the day they came out. And I suspect the same is happening with the HotBuys Bear Hat. Though I couldn't actually find a picture, I have seen it for about 100 before (originally priced 17) and people hated that more than they hated the Uggs before. (Not me, I loved it from the start)

So, this just goes to show how much people will seriously pay for something they claim to hate.

Is the Covergirl voting system REALLY fair?

Hi, today I thought I'd write about the Covergirl voting system. I'm not sure it's really fair.
The people who win Covergirl are usually those who:-

  • Have higher levels and more 'fame'
  • Been on Stardoll longer than most
  • Lots of real-life money to spend on broadcasting
  • More popularity and 'elite' accounts
People's first impression of these 'covergirl worthy' dolls is that they obviously deserve to win, hence voting them 5/5.

Now, I have nothing against people who win CoverGirl. A lot of the winners genuinely deserve it; but if you can't have all the money for broadcasting and high levels, do you really have a chance? I think the Covergirl voting system should depend on the personality of the person, because I know some really lovely people who aren't recognised for how much they really deserve it. But a lot of people who do have a high chance also have a great personality. What do you think?

Natural Make-Up Tutorial

Hey, guys! Today I'm going to show you one of my favourite looks for your medoll. I'm aiming at a subtle, natural style.
Hair
I use the level 46 one, but you can use practically any if you're not that level yet. The non-ss ones that work the best are featured here, or any other hair can also be used but I think these are the best ones. It's up to you, but keep it simple!
I don't use a hair-dye. Make it the brunette colour, the 6th one along (on the colour list when you go to 'Hair')

Eyes
Remove all your current eye-makeup to begin. Apply liquid liner to the eyes, but don't flick, and make sure it's black liner. Use black VOLUME mascara (the smaller one). Don't use too much. The eyes don't drastically change, which is good as we're trying to get a natural look. The eyes should now look like the picture on the left.
Now you do the eyeshadow. Only use a tiny bit, or you'll lose the natural look completely. Use white or bronze for the best effect. Now your eyes should look like the picture on the right, if you used the white eyeshadow, but I used the bronze.

Lips
The lips are not the most important thing on the face; but I used the LUXE lipgloss. It's pretty expensive, but worth it, as it makes the lips look more realistic, so I'd recommend it. If you have a different lipgloss, use it, as they all look similar. However, if you don't want to pay 24sd for a lipgloss, use pink or tan lipstick instead.

Add a gold flower headband (or practically any other gold, white or blue hair accessory) and here's how mine looked:

The Next Level

Hey!
I'm sure most of you will be aware of the new levelling system, replacing Starpoints. Here is the message I was sent the other day when levels first started...

I actually quite like them but I know a lot of people who don't. What do you think?
THE PROS
  • You can see how your doll looks with Starpoint hairstyles you don't have yet, and take pictures of your doll with these hairstyles
  • Quicker and easier to level up
  • You can see all the rewards you can get and how many levels you need to get them
  • You can see the furniture in your suite which you haven't unlocked yet
  • Rewards more often
THE CONS
  • Tacky crown that many of us in SR (including me) don't particularly like
  • Older members seem to dislike it because Starpoints were basically the only thing Stardoll did not change
  • Items in StarPlaza locked when they weren't before
  • Some people say 'levelling' could become like a popularity contest when people with higher levels are loved and people with lower levels aren't
  • Can't see exactly how many points you would have
Personally, I love the levels. I know a lot of people, especially the older members, don't. So, what do you think? Leave a comment, maybe!
